Khaled El Emam, Replica Analytics’ co-founder and SVP and GM will present Accelerating AI with Synthetic Data at this upcoming event in Dubai. Generating synthetic data involves training artificial intelligence (AI) models on real data, using these models to generate new data that retain the same characteristics and enable us to draw the same conclusions as the original data. The result is high quality, non-identifiable data with no one-to-one mapping back the original individuals. Therefore, the risk of privacy violations is significantly minimized compared to traditional methods of de-identifying data. In his presentation, Dr. El Emam is the Canada Research Chair in Medical AI and the Director of the Electronic Health Information Laboratory at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute. He will discuss how synthetic data can help further develop and validate new AI and machine learning technologies that are always very data hungry, without compromising privacy standards. Machine learning models can also become more fair and inclusive when the datasets used to train them are amplified with synthetic data when, for example, a particular group is under-represented. Machine learning models constructed using synthetic as opposed to real data are also less vulnerable to privacy attacks. Replica is a proud partner of this event.
